What Are Lessons Like at Ventura Music School?

You’ll find warm, friendly, patient and experienced teachers that have lots of experience teaching all ages, levels and styles as well as great credentials.  Our focus is to help students develop their skills at the instrument of your choice and then we have ensemble classes where students can learn to play in a band setting with peers.  We emphasize having fun and learning the music you love to listen to.

MEET OUR TEACHERS

“Kevin Conahey is a local resident of Ojai CA. He has been a Freelance percussionist/Drum set player professionally for over 15 years years. His experiences include and are not limited to, Hired drumset player for CAL state Northridge musicals, back up percussionist for the Santa Barbra symphony, drum set player for the Rubicon theater, and a wide array of other performances with various rock/funk groups. His teaching experience ranges from everyday Marching percussion to one on one private lessons for various schools in the area. Kevin loves to share his passion for the arts and is excited to be teaching at The Ventura music school.

A native daughter of Los Angeles, Marcela Carmona was born to be a musician. Always a singer, she performed with choirs in school and at church her entire childhood. She started piano lessons at 3 and was classically trained for 14 years. She is an accomplished singer, songwriter, and pianist, recording/performing artist, Music/Vocal Director for Musical Theater, composer for film and theater, and in 2013 released a record of original songs titled "After The Accident”. With a high level of patience and commitment to working with young children and adults. Marcela has 20 years of teaching experience in various instruments including songwriting and composition. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she believes in the connecting power of music as a universal language. When she's not teaching, she enjoys working on her own music, baking delicious goodies, family time, and hiking with her pup. She thanks you in advance for your trust and the gift of your talents.

Andrew Bassuk, Owner/President of Ventura Music School has been playing guitar since he was 12 years old. He grew playing classic rock and heavy metal. He has studied classical guitar for 10 years, celtic fingerstyle guitar, blues, fingerpicking, bluegrass and a wide range of styles. A self confessed guitar addict, he can always be found learning new songs, writing folk songs and just always doing something guitar related. These days his passions are indie-folk, bluegrass, fingerstyle blues and related stuff. He enjoys playing, teaching and inspiring others to grow musically.

David McInnes has been a voice/singing teacher for many years. He teaches all ages and styles. He has worked with Rock n Roll kids programs teaching kids to play in rock bands and to develop their ability to play with others. He enjoys hard rock, bluegrass, folk and all styles of music.

Sign up is easy and parent-friendly. Because we only offer lessons on a month-to-month basis, there are no large upfront payments, no complicated contracts, no annual material or performance fees, and no semester minimums.  We teach students ages 3 - 103+

Pricing

$32.50 / 30 minutes

Lessons are available six days a week, and scheduled once a week.
A one-time registration fee is $25 (due only at time of registration).
