Making music is great at any age

I sometimes come across people in their 50s, 60s and beyond that say “I wish I had learned to play guitar when I was younger, now it’s too late.”  Well, the chances of becoming a rock star if you start learning in your 50s and beyond is slim.  But, learning guitar is one of the best things you can do as you reach middle age and beyond.  If you’re a baby boomer that loves all those great 60s, and 70s classics then you’ve just got to learn to play guitar!

I’ve had many students tell me that learning guitar is one of the things on their “bucket list.”  If you get a guitar and work at it, within a matter of months, you can be playing and singing many of the great classic songs that you grew up with.  There are plenty of Beatles, Eagles, Neil Young and Credence Clearwater Revival Songs that are great for beginners.

So, don’t write it off.  Take that step and put playing guitar back on your list of things to do.  It’s a great way to ignite your creative juices, get inspired and find some real beauty, joy and passion in your life.  Plus, it’s one of the best ways to connect with others.  After all, connecting with others by playing music together is one of life’s great joys.
